Timber donations for Youth in Nature

November 03 2016

Youth in Nature HullWe’ve been actively donating timber and metal components to the Youth in Nature initiative in Hull and the first garden project is now complete for the local community to enjoy. It’s truly rewarding to get involved in projects such as these, appreciating just how much can be achieved from very little and how a great difference can be made to many lives.

Led by Probe (Hull) Limited and with partners including the Child Dynamix charity and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Youth in Nature seeks to develop a programme of wildlife related activity, led by young people. The initiative offers many Hull youngsters the chance to develop a range of skills and embrace the natural environment. Additionally, they will improve their employability and life chances.

WJ Group supplied an assortment of treated timber to be used in the first of many garden projects undertaken by Child Dynamix. The garden at St Hilda’s on Greatfield estate in Hull will enhance the local environment for all residents, young and old, leaving a legacy from this excellent national initiative, for which the government has pledged £3 million over three years.

John Cook, WJ Group Operations Manager comments: “We were delighted to be involved in this extremely worthwhile project and hope that the young people enjoyed learning new skills in constructing the garden at St Hilda’s. In the Hull area, Youth in Nature has experienced a successful and proactive launch and we would urge more local businesses to get involved however they can, as it really will make a difference – both to the local area and to the young people that are able to run the projects.”
